Сначала учился в Англии, затем продолжил в Парижском Университете у Гильома из Шампо. Преподавал философию и теологию в Оксфордском университете.

Возведён в ранг кардинала-священника Санти-Сильвестро-э-Мартино-ай-Монти на консистории 1142 года.
