Image is in the public domain as it was first acquired by the U.S in October 2001 through the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York [2] and subsequently released that year in the form of wanted leaflets by the Department of Defense in the images country of origin, Afghanistan [3]. This is further corroborated by an independent media outlet which cites the full version of the image as in the public domain [4].
