Naggar is an ancient town in the upper Beas valley that overlaps with the Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh. It was the capital of Kilita kingdom, also spelled Kulata kingdom – one of the oldest known Himalayan Hindu dynasty in the valleys of Himachal that finds mention in the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Vishnu Purana. After the Kulutas, Naggar continued to be an important hub of different Himalayan trade and pilgrimage routes, along with Jagatsukh.

The town preserves historic castles, temples, funerary monuments, colonial era buildings and extensive orchards. The most important historic temples in Naggar include the Gauri Shankar temple, the Tripura Sundari temple, the Cherwal temple, the Jhiri Devi temple, the Bhutani Devi temple, the Ganesha temple, the Jagannath temple, the Chaturbhuja temple, and the Murlidhar temple. These are all dated between 8th and 16th centuries.

Naggar is also spelled Nagar, which means a city, town in Sanskrit.
