English: The Passaic class monitors were ironclad warships of the U.S. Navy that saw service in the U.S. Civil War and the Spanish-American War. The first of the line was commissioned 25 November 1862. They were larger than the original Monitor with many changes over that original design including a pilothouses atop the turret, rather than near the bow, and a fixed funnel, instead of the Monitor's removable one.
