Yesterday I tried to remove a misidentified image of Veronica arvensis which actually shows Veronica hederifolia agg. (or much less likely a very similar species such as Veronica cymbalaria). I do not speak any Russian. Nevertheless I suppose that my edit was correct, even though I had to use an automatic translator to understand the image caption. Rollback was swift, unfortunately. Veronica arvensis has never three- or five-lobed leaves like Veronica hederifolia. The image shows such a three-lobed leaf. Therefore it clearly cannot show Veronica arvensis.

For comparison:

Please, take a look leaf with three lines on this picture - http://eol.org/data_objects/1396947 --Movses 19:57, 26 апреля 2014 (UTC)[ответить]
Alright, it is kind of difficult with drawings, even though I would not doubt the correct ID of http://eol.org/data_objects/1396947 . And the lowest leaves (cotyledons or primary leaves) will in fact look different. Nevertheless stem leaves of Veronica arvensis (as seen in the Wikipedia photograph) would not be deeply three-lobed, without any crenation. In addition, according to the key of a common German flora ("Schmeil-Fitschen"), Veronica arvensis has sessile (or almost sessile) stem leaves, whereas those of Veronica hederifolia agg. have rather long leaf stalks. The leaf stalks are well visible in the misidentified photograph above. For a trustworthy photograph of a correctly identified specimen of Veronica arvensis with visible leaves you might have a look at http://eol.org/data_objects/22796903 (and possibly at the full size image), for Veronica hederifolia see e. g. http://flora.nhm-wien.ac.at/Seiten-Arten/Veronica-hederifolia.htm . --Robert Flogaus-Faust 20:57, 26 апреля 2014 (UTC)[ответить]
I agree with your arguments. Danke schön, Robert. --Movses 06:20, 27 апреля 2014 (UTC)[ответить]
