Diagram of British 60 pounder Mk I gun on Mk II carriage with Mk II limber, in traveling position. It demonstrates how the gun and breech was transported carried well forward on the Mk II carriage, i.e. it could not be moved rearwards (towards the limber) to equalise the weight distribution as with Mk I and Mk III carriage. Most of the gun's weight was carried on the gun carriage's wheels rather than the limber's.
This diagram depicts a gun in US Army service but is also indicative of British army service.
NOTE : Gun barrel is depicted truncated.
