The Austrian copyright law of 1936 specified a copyright duration of 20 years after publication for all photographs. The copyright law of 1953 was not retroactive (see Art. II s. 3), so all photographic works whose copyright had expired by 1953 are in the public domain.

This image is in the public domain in countries and areas where the copyright term for anonymous or pseudonymous works is 70 years from the year of first publication or less, for example in the European Union.
