d there came to him a man with the leprosy, who kneeled down beforehim and said, Lord, if thou wilt thou canst make me clean. Jesus pitied him,and put out his hand and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. Andimmediately the leprosy went from him, and he was made clean. Then Jesussent him away, and commanded him to tell no man who had healed him, butto go to the priest at the temple, and offer up a sacrifice, as Moses hadcommanded those persons to do who were cured of the leprosy. Tet the man,as soon as he was gone, told all the people what Jesus had done for him. Jesus walked on the Sabbath day, -with his disciples, through the fields ofcorn. And they, being hungry, picked some of the ears, and rubbed out thegrains with their hands and did eat them. When the Pharisees saw it theyfound fault, and said, that the disciples were working on the Sabbath. ButJesus told them that he was not to be judged for what he did on that day,because he was the Lord, or Master, of the Sabbath. 238
