GENERAL SHOPS AT THIRD AVE. .VXU lUTH ST once a week the employes go through a fire drill. At both placesthe fire protection system has been splendidly carried out. Theheat is supplied from a boiler located on the side of the buildingnear the center in a room 18 ft. 4 in. .\ ),■;, built of brick, with a con-crete floor. Heavy wooden doors have been placed at each end of the building. With the present shop facilities it is possible to build and turnout completed the finest passenger cars. However, it has not beenfound desirable to build passenger cars, although several construc-tion motor cars and the freight motor and box cars were all built alarm. When a breakdown occurs this station is notified by tele-phone and by the pressure of a single button a gong sounds overthe stalls of the horses, opens the gates of the stalls, throws openthe front doors and at night rings a gong over the beds of thesleeping men.
