uring which innumerable difficultieswere overcome by constant application, de-termined effort, and incessant labor, day andnight, success crowned the efforts of those en-gaged in the undertaking. The Albemarle was 152 feet long betweenperpendiculars ; her extreme width was 45feet; her depth from the gun-deck to thekeel was 9 feet, and when launched she drew61.^ feet of water, but after being ironed andcompleted her draught was about 8 feet.
