Краткое описание
ОписаниеAt the Blaine Border Crossing that day (15324280681).jpg |
At the rally in the park, I was in Canada, but didn't have to go through Canadian customs. I think they still expect one to go through a customs when leaving the park. That met US customs for me. Big line of smoking cars, even in the Nexus Lane so I decided to try inside the building where the pedestrian bike sign lead. An officer saw me and pointed the way saying "join the party" with kind of a grim tone. When I got inside, I realized "party" met it was busy. Lines that looked impossibly long, but a shorter line for pedestrians and Nexus. That was a relief, but even the short line seemed to be moving slow. Luckily, there was this really cute guy just in front of me in the line. Wish it was a skinny dipping party. We were able to strike up conversation which made the wait seem less tedious. If there are too many people, might as well find a way to enjoy the people rather t6han just be annoyed. Eventually the line moved along and I was back on the road bicycling toward Bellingham. Here is a way that the border patrol could be innovative. There were quite a few guards standing around in the park keeping an eye on the rally. Maybe that's why lines at the customs house were slower that day. Some of the staff was outside. How about using WIFI and tablet computers to process people through customs as they leave the park rather than sending them to the building? For all I know, maybe people were just leaving the park after the rally without checking with customs. Maybe there was no problem just going out of the park. I wasn't there as I assumed I was supposed to report to the customs building. Makes a nice story. |
