Краткое описание

Описание
English: Portrait painting of Bogusław Roch Józef Horodyński (pl) , whose noble family bore the Korczak coat of arms, was born on October 25, 1802 in Zbydniów (pl), where he also died on November 30, 1866. He was the second son of Dominik (1768-1823, from Horodniany, who was adjutant to Tadeusz Kościuszko during the Uprising of 1794) and Kunegunda Brochowska (widow of Count Brzezinski). Nicknamed “Spiskowiec” (rebel, insurgent or conspirator dependent on your translation), as well as the landowner of Zbydniów and Radomyśl (pl) estates, he was also father to many children including Zbigniew Horodyński (pl) (who became Marshal of the Tarnobrzeg Region).

Born on the family estate in Zbydniów in Rzeszów Province (Austrian Partition (pl)), Bogusław graduated from the University of Warsaw (pl). In the years 1821 - 1824 he served in the Polish army artillery under Grand Duke Constantine, before secretly returning to Zbydniów to manage the family estate and to recruit, along with his older brother Onufry, volunteers for the ‘Polish Army’.
Bogusław took part in the November Uprising of 1830-31. He fought at the Battle of Olszynka Grochowska, the Battle of Dębek Wielki (pl), and the Battle of Ostrołęka (pl), serving as a lieutenant, at first in the artillery, later in the Legion of the Vistula (Legia Nadwiślańska), and then under General Ramorino. (Bogusław was awarded the Cross of Valour, Poland’s highest military order, for this campaign.) After the uprising, he supported the guerilla Józef Zaliwski (pl) in the organization of several expeditions to the Kingdom of Poland (the Horodyński court in Zbydniów became, due to its location near the border with the ‘Kingdom’, a major insurgency assembling point). The brothers both operated in the so-called ‘Nameless Association (pl)’ established by Vincent Tyszkiewicz (pl) (1796-1856) and during this revolutionary period, Józef Zaliwski himself stayed at the court in Zbydniów where Jerzy (1799-1865) and Adam Lubomirski (1811-1873) were also participants in clandestine insurgency meetings.
Arrested in 1833 Bogusław was sentenced to death by the Austrian authorities in Lwów (now Lviv) and subsequently spent several years in the dungeons of Austrian fortresses in Spielberg and Kufstein. Partially pardoned in 1837 he was exiled, along with Emil Korytko (Biography in Slovenian), to Ljubljana (now in Slovenia). After receiving a full pardon in 1844 he returned to Zbydniów but in 1846 he was arrested again, this time briefly, on charges of participating in preparations for the Kraków Uprising. Later, during the January Uprising of 1863-64, he again supported partisan units forming in the vicinity of Zbydniów.
From his marriage in 1847 to Zofia née Wierzbicki (1825–1900), daughter of Antoni Wierzbicki and Teresa née Błażowski, Bogusław had eight children: 1) Julia Stefania Horodyńska (1848–1870), 2) Bogusław Onufry Teodor Horodyński (1850–1896) married to Antonina Podleska, 3) Zbigniew Leon Dominik Horodyński (1851–1930) married to Maria Innocenta Antonia Dominika Podleska, 4) Stanisław Bolesław Emilian Horodyński (1852–1906) married to Maria Frankowska, 5) Teresa Zofia Horodyńska (1855–1917) married to Karol Wiszniowski (1848–1917), 6) Zofia Jadwiga Maria Horodyńska (1857–1879), 7) Onufry Roman Piotr Horodyński (1860-1924) married to Olimpia Podleska (1865–1957) and 8) Jan Konstanty Witalis Horodyński (born in 1860) married to Elwira Eberhardt.
Although not proved at the time of posting, it has been deduced by S A A Grodyński (who if correct would be the great-great-great grandson of Bogusław) that during the years 1824 to 1833 Bogusław may have fathered other children as the descendant families of two children, Adolphus Goldstein and Sylwester Kusionowicz (1828-1877), both including Polish Appeal Court Judges among their respective family descendants, adopted the hitherto unknown but similar sounding surname of Grodyński (see ‘Grodyński Family Tree’). Apparently in rcognition of his true ancestry, the first son of Sylwester’s son Andrzej was named Bogusław (not a common name in Czchów with the Kusion\Kusionowicz families among whom he was raised). Perhaps also not coincidentally, Andrzej’s second son Stanisław and grandfather of the proposer of the above deduction, was a close friend with descendants of both the Tyszkiewicz (Stefan) and Lubomirski (Eugeniusz) families, all having fought for Poland’s independence and settled in London following the Second World War (reference ‘The Grodyński Brigade’).
