English: One of 6,330 prints in the 45 volumes of the Bowyer Bible in Bolton Museum, England. The six volumes of the Macklin Bible have been expanded by careful grangerisation. From a series published by Mortier and Covens, consisting of 62 very elaborate engravings of occurrences in Bible history, the whole of which are by Luyken. (“Icones Biblicae Veteris et V. Testamenti Inventées et Graphées par Jan Luyken”, published by P. Mortier in 1708 with captions in Dutch and French.) Boase comments: “These large folding plates were used for crowded scenes, appropriate enough for ‘The Deluge’ or ‘The Destruction of Sodom’, but unduly swamping incidents such as ‘The Healing of Bartimaeus’ or ‘The Raising of Lazarus’.
