"My name is Elyas Bin Yunoos. I’m a barber. The name of my barbershop is Son & Dad. Here our concept is old-school, vintage haircuts which is why we have these old barber chairs from 50 - 60 years ago. I found out about these famous barbers on YouTube. They're the Schorem barbers from the Netherlands. I watched them on YouTube. I studied their techniques. Then I felt like I had found myself - found the real me. What makes a barber different from a hair salon is that we only do cut and shave. Our clipper machines are different than those in hair salons because we use our clippers more and we can use them to cut as close as a razor. That’s the difference. We’re also unique because we use straight razors. Hair salons don’t use them. Business is going very well. I trained two people. One is Fazil. He’s very skilled, focused, intelligent, hardworking. The other is Faizal. He’s equally a hard worker. Every day after prayers. I call on Allah for his blessing. Thanks be to Allah. My confidence has grown as I’ve become more popular. I’ve received so much support. Especially from my wife who never got frustrated with me. Some day my dream is to open up a branch of Son & Dad perhaps in every state - in every state of Malaysia.
