Crail is a small picturesque fishing village in the "Kingdom" of Fife, eastern Scotland. The village is very old and there is evidence of habitation back to the 8th century, and speculation that its' history could date from Pictish times (before 1000 AD).
The older buildings are clustered near the harbour and in my picture we can see an interesting architectural feature - the "crow-stepped gable" which can be seen at various places in Europe. (The stepped end walls of buildings). Some Scottish examples have been dated back 400 years.
The cars we can see are Ford Cortinas, which were popular in 1987. Notice how the yellow one has a stone in front of a wheel to deter it from running downhill into the harbour.
My picture was taken on Kodachrome in 1987 using my Nikkormat FTn and 50mm f2.0 ai lens. A lens that I still use occasionally today. As far as I am aware the same scene today is almost identical.
