Going west from Kathmandu on the east-west highway, at a distance of about 228 km, after walking uphill on the right side of the highway for about 30 minutes, you will reach the temple of Daunne Devi. Rich in natural resources, this mountain range is very scenic. From a historical point of view, it is also mentioned that it has been in existence since King Mukunda Sen of Palpa, I 1575-1601 BC in the 16th century. In the second decade of the 19th century, in 1816, King Mahipal Sen of Palpa was building a palace in Dhurkot, angered by the goddess Shitlamai, and when his son and daughter were sick, he ordered the establishment of Dhukrot Devi in Dhukrot, Mahalpokhri Devi in Mahalpokhari and Daunne Devi in Daunne Parbat. It is said by the elders here including Baba Ambika Puri who visited this temple in the year 2024 that Malla and Ranaka's bells were in Daunne Devi temple. The bell which was offered by Captain Surbir Basnet in 1924 is still present in the temple. Yogi Narharinath has been mentioned in the Chinari book that it is clear that its existence is seen more than 450 years before today. It is also said that the Balmiki Shrishi Ashram is located here in the temple complex and on the mountain, Gautama Buddha stayed at this place during his journey to the East. In addition, there are various monasteries and temples, temples and shrines on this mountain. There are various facilities in this religious place for the locals to hold banquets, weddings, ceremonies, religious events etc. in this beautiful place. According to Gobind Paudel, who has been the priest of Daunne Devi for the past 4 years, the daily worship and aarti of this goddess is done in the morning and evening. In this temple special pooja is also performed for nine days of Sri Panchami and Vijaya Dashami (Nepali Great Festival). There is also a popular belief that by worshiping this goddess, diseases will be cured and wishes will be fulfilled. Also, sacrifices are also made in the temple of this goddess. This temple is crowded with devotees especially on holidays and Saturdays and devotees from neighboring India also come to worship this goddess. Baba Ambika Puri, who visited this temple in the year 2024, has played an important role in making this temple of Daunne Devi famous as it is today. At the time when this Baba was in the temple of this goddess, at that time the forest of this mountain was very dense, the human population was very less. In this way, Baba Ambika Puri is considered as a strict ascetic because this Baba protected the temple and brought it to its present state. According to Dayaram Neupane, a volunteer of the temple, the Daunne Devi Temple Conservation and Management Committee, which was established for the various functions of this temple, has been functioning since the year 2079, but the committee has been disbanded. Currently, the Dumkibas village is conducting various functions including the management of the temple and collection of donations. In addition, there is a telecommunication and Nepal Television tower on the top of this mountain.
