Crawford and John Laverty, and Coalheavers CharlesBaldwin and Benjamin Lloyd. Under her unscrupulous but clever andresourceful commander, Raphael Semmes, she captured, ransomed or destroyedwithin the short space of twenty-two months a Federal war vessel and some sixtyships of the then prosperous merchant navy of the United States, until fate finallyovertook her on the 19th of June, 1864.
