Lectoure, about 1777, and died at Bordeaux in1840. In the Bordeaux Museum there is by hima View at La Teste. His son, Geobqes de Galaed,was bom at Bordeaux, and died there in 1834, andthere is in the Museum of that city a Study ofa Sweep, by him. GALASSI, Galasso, (sometimes called GalassoAlgiiisi.) the son of a shoemaker of Ferrara,was born about 1423. From the account-booksof the House of Este, it appears that he wascalled Maestro Galasso de Mattheo Calegaro,and was employed in the decorations of thepalace of Belreguardo between the years 1450and 1453. In 1455 he composed the Assump-tion, and finished the portrait of CardinalBessarion, at Santa Maria in Monte, Bologna.Amongst his early paintings were the Trinity,in the Museum of Ferrara; and the Entomb-ment, and a Virgin and Child, with donor andpatron Saint, in the Costabili Gallery in thesame city. Professor Saroli possesses a Christon the Mount of Olives, and the Marquis Strozzia Crucifixion, both in Ferrara. Galassi diedin 1473.
