"Mr R.P. Hunt
Sir
On the 5th inst received per Sloop Minerva 200 Bbls of your flour – 157 of which were sold at $5 7/8 1 D at $6 – The remainder being sour was branded by the inspector Bad and sold as follows –11 bbls @ 5 ½ 3 D @ 5 ¼ 20 D@ 5 1/8 and 8 D@ 5 dollars. We considered the sale an excellent one not being able to obtain within one shilling [for half?] that price from but on of the dealers - Although flour is now quoted higher it is for fresh ground - so the [premium?] yours would sell for not a large advance on the price [illegible] mentioned - The price being very high particularly for this season of the year, has [induced?] us to order the balance which you hold at Troy which we hope will soon arrive the article [fluctuates] so much that it is impossible to form any correct idea of the future price. We will forward a price current that will give you a full statement of the various prices of Wheat & Flour from which you can [consider?] whether 'tis better to forward it at present of hold for higher prices [illegible] arrival from [Liverpool?] on Friday bringing news of an expected short crop - it has induced the dealers to hold at the prices quoted at which it would be difficult to realise – Respectfully Yours Edward G.
