Upper buildings Photo of Thérèse Rivière (1901-1970) Thérèse Rivière, sister of Georges-Henri Rivière, director of the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, was responsible for the "White Africa and the Levant" department at the Ethnographic Museum of Trocadéro. She left from 1934 to 1937, with her young colleague Germaine Tillion, in the Aurès to study the lifestyles of the Chaouïa Berbers. She takes numerous photographs and films there and collects objects. Born at the same time as the colonial conquest, photography has always accompanied Algeria. This exhibition is not, however, a history of Algeria through images.
