English: A historic photo shows a tall wooden structure with a waterwheel. It is surrounded by young trees and some felled logs. Sometime prior to 1865, the Flood's Mill was constructed to process local farmers' grain. In the late 19th century, the mill dam formed a stretch of the river into a mill pond. The Flood's Mill site, with its dam, race, and mill, is visible as earthworks in the brush along the bank of the Appomattox River. Although the dam is no longer complete or functioning, the site may be an important archaeological resource for further study.
