No measures were mooted likely tohamper the new administration, though one, accepting the lib-eral theory of Internal Improvement, and making large appro-priation therefor, went through, after provoking the then stereo-typed debates as to its constitutionality. The electoral count inPebruary showed 178 votes for Jackson and 83 for Adams, forPresident, and 171 for Calhoun, and 83 for Rush, for Vice-Presi-dent. Congress adjourned sine die, March 3, 1829.
