Deutsch: In Süddeutschland überwog über Jahrhunderte die Regel, dass landwirtschaftliche Flächen unter allen Erben aufgeteilt wurden. Das führte zu einer Zersplitterung von Nutzflächen (Bild links, Kolbingen). In Norddeutschland hingegen galt die sogenannte Höfeordnung: landwirtschaftliche Betriebe mussten ungeteilt an einen Erben weiter gegeben werden (Bild rechts, Neuharlingersiel). Die Gesetzestexte können dabei als eine Art Erbinformation oder kulturelle DNA oder Genotyp gedeutet werden [1], die Landschaftsform als Phänoytp[2]. Der englische Zoologe Richard Dawkins sprach von kulturellen Genen, den Memen [3]. Soll das Konzept des Mems auf Handlungen von Menschen beschränkt werden, so lassen sich die Struktur der Felder als Ergebnis menschlicher Handlungen und Meme deuten. Dawkins entwickelte dafür das Konzept des erweiterten Phänotyps [4]. English: In 1976, the English zoologist Richard Dawkins coined the word meme. A meme is a cultural equivalent of a biological gene. However, Dawkins never made a clear distinction between the genotype and the phenotype of a meme. The concept was perceived as nebulous by some scientists[5]. This image here suggests, that the legal code governing the succession of agricultural land functions in some analogy to genes (coded information).
