English: King's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 Part of Medal set of 10545 Cpl Ernest William Webb, T Bty, Royal Horse Artillery (RHA) silver medal; plain straight swivelling suspender; with ribbon two bars- SOUTH AFRICA 1901 - SOUTH AFRICA 1902 obverse- bust of King Edward VII and legend- EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR reverse- Britannia with a flag in her left hand and holding out a laurel wreath in her right towards an advancing party of soldiers; in the background are two warships; the wreath in Britannia’s hand points to the letter ‘R’ in the word AFRICA; around the top are the words SOUTH AFRICA ribbon- green, white and yellow in equal widths named on edge - 10545 CPL E.W. WEBB R.H.A. |

| Примечания | King's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 - with two bars Medal awarded to 10545 Cpl Ernest William Webb, T Bty, Royal Horse Artillery two bars- SOUTH AFRICA 1901 - SOUTH AFRICA 1902 English-born Ernest William Webb served in South Africa with the Royal Horse Artillery, receiving the QSA and KSA with seven bars. He took his discharge in South Africa and served with the Transvaal Police until 1908. He then migrated to New Zealand with his wife and took up a position with the Christchuch Fire Brigade (1909-1911). He then joined the Permanent Staff of the Defence Force, although he had resigned from this employment before the outbreak of World War One. At the outbreak of war Webb enlisted with the Canterbury Mounted Rifles. He served on Gallipoli and was invalided back to New Zealand at the end of 1915. He then was employed as an Instructor in New Zealand. Following his discharge Webb contined to serve with the Territorials (Canterbury Yeoman Cavalry.) until 1938 and at the time of his retirement in 1938. He died in Auckland in 1956. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
