English: The Arabian Sea has long been an important trade route as well as a rich fishery, providing both food and business opportunities for humans for thousands of years. The northern Arabian Sea is a particularly rich fishery allowing the catch of Indian Oil Sardine, drum, croaker, anchovy, and mackerel, among others. Seaports abound along the coastline, serving the working fleets as well as, in some areas, a tourist trade.

On October 26, 2015, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA�s Terra satellite captured this true-color image of the Northern Arabian Sea and the lands adjacent to it.

The northeastern tip of Oman can be seen in the lower left section of the image. The arm of the Arabian Sea just north of Oman is known as the Gulf of Oman. Along the northern coast of the Arabian Sea lies Iran (west) and Pakistan. Further north, and well inland, the arid lands of Afghanistan can be seen. The green swath along the eastern edge of the image marks the plant-rich Indus River Valley.
