LANDSAT5 Satellite View of Bicas,Minas Gerais,Brazil in 1993-06-24 (RGB=bands 5,4,3+1 ), (3+1 means that bands 1 and 3 were added to the Blue channel, highlighting human artifacts) with 30m resolution per pixel and no further special filters applied.

In this composite, the dense vegetation is green, strongly contrasting with the deforested areas and grass, in red/brown. The areas in purple hues were specially highlighted in this composition, so that human artifacts (buildings, houses, roads) and naked land areas show off. The city of Bicas shows up as a big light purple spot in the centre of the image. The city of Guarará shows up as a thin "half moon" linked to the southeast of Bicas. The strong big bright purple spot in the middle of Bicas most probably corresponds to the top of the "Alto das Brisas" hill, where there is a large proportion of naked land. Other light purple spots are probably other sites of mineral extraction with large amounts of naked land. It is possible to verify a bright purple spot on the far west of the picture that probably corresponds to a local mineral extraction site near the village of Santa Helena, along the road BR-267, which is also very visible as a winding thin dark line coming from west across the south of Bicas and north of Guarará leading eastwards. The winding think dark line in the northern parts of the picture is most probably the road linking Bicas to the city of Rochedo de Minas. The recent quarters to the northeast of Bicas are also visible, leading to the Saracura region. This picture covers roughly 14400m west-east and 10800m north-south. The centre of the picture is located around Latitude 21S43'20 / Longitude 43W03'30.
