a deep violet color. The seance should last about ten minutesand may be repeated every day. Care should be taken not to touchtimid patients at such times, as they may become frightened at theshock and large flashes of electricity that leap from every part ofthe body when touched. This method of applying the high-fre-quency current has a very palliative effect on weak and nervous pa-tients who suffer from pelvic pains of any character. The author X-RAY THERAPY 297 has seen hemorrhage and offensive discharges cease after a fewtreatments; in fact, the use of the high-frequency current as de-scribed has never failed to control a case of uterine hemorrhage re-sulting from cancer. Sarcoma.—Sarcoma is not nearly so common as epithelioma.Having its origin in the deeper tissues, it is frequently not recog-nized until far advanced. As a rule, its development and de-structive influence is quite rapid, and, unless checked by active orradical measures, will soon destroy the life of the patient.

Many of these cases areinoperable, and can be treated with the x-ray and Coleys mixedtoxins only as a palliative measure. The author has seen very fewcases of sarcoma that were benefited by any method of treatment. This man had consulted manyphysicians and had, no doubt, taken every rheumatic remedy knownto medical science without having received the least benefit. Theshoulder was skiagraphed on the same day that the photograph wasmade.
