Music by Gioachino Rossini. First presented at the Academie,Paris, August 3, 1829, with Adolph Nourrit as the original Arnold. Produced in Italy, atLucca, September 17, 1831. First London production, in English, at Drury Lane, 1830, andin Italian at Her Majestys, 1839. Produced at the New Orleans Opera December 13, 1842.Revived at the Academy of Music by Leonard Grovers German Opera Company, Formesmaking his first appearance in opera in America. Produced at the Metropolitan Decem-ber 3, 1888, with Fischer, and March 31, 1890, with Tamagno. Again revived, after twenty-five years, at the Century Opera House September 22, 1914.
