Описание

Zlatno srce spava,

Prijatelj Srba iz najtežih dana,

Junak Pravde, Istine i Prava,

Švajcarca Rajsa, kom` nek je slava.“
English: At three o'clock in the afternoon, on August 9, 1929, Dr. Rice's body was transported by car to the General State Hospital, where, according to the deceased's last wish, his heart was to be taken out to be transferred to Kajmakcalan. The section was performed by prof. Dr. Milovan Milovanovic. Rice's remains were then transferred to the Officers' Home, where they were displayed on an honorary hearse, until the funeral, which took place on August 10, 1929, in the afternoon, at the Topčider cemetery. He was buried with military honors and according to the Orthodox rite, next to his favorite little Nada Favra. Bishop Irinej of Karlovac performed the act with 15 priests. In addition to the envoy of King Alexander I Karadjordjevic, representatives of the Government, representatives of civil and military authorities, a huge number of peoples, various cultural and humanitarian organizations, and a large number of warriors, comrades from the Archibald Rice front, took part in the funeral. After the funeral, farewell speeches were made. [1]

At his own request, his extracted heart was taken in an urn to Kajmakcalan, where he was buried together with the other liberators of the Thessaloniki front. The urn (which was broken during a raid by Bulgarians in World War II) read: "Here in this urn, at the top of Kajmakchalan

The golden heart sleeps,

A friend of Serbs from the most difficult days,

Hero of Justice, Truth and Law,

Swiss Rice, to whom be the glory. " More about this source textSource text required for additional translation information Send feedback
