MOUNTING BYBAH HILL, GREENWICH, CONN.—SIXTEEN PEB CENT GBADE. began the journey at thirty-second intervals by theofficial timekeepers, stationed at Fifty-eighth Street,and soon formed quite a procession as far as the eyecould reach. The operators and observers as a rulehad their eyes protected by goggles, while many of theexperienced chauffeurs were dressed in the typicaldust, dirt and rain-proof black leather suits. The route followed was north in Fifth, thence westto Seventh Avenue and via Jerome Avenue to Fordham, then east across to the Sound Shore Road, north-easterly into New Rochelle. From here the old BostonPost Road was followed through the various cities and The first Pacific thirdrail system was opened inAugust.
