FINANCIAL TROUBLES. The year 1873 ^^^ marked by widespread financial troubles through-out the world, and especially in the United States. They were herecaused by a reaction from the inflation of business at the close of the war,and also by the unsettled state of the national currency. One of thegreatest panics on record swept over the land, and for years thereafterbusiness suffered serious depression.
