udent who applies for readmission after attending another institutionmust furnish transcripts from each such institution he attended. High School Credit Earned After University Entrance After a student has registered in a college of the University of Illinois, hecannot receive credit for courses subsequently taken in a high school unless hepasses a University-administered examination in the subject. Residence Classification for Admission and Fee-Assessment Purposes Evidence for determining the legal residence of each applicant for admis-sion to the University as a student will be submitted to the Director ofAdmissions and Records when application for admission is made. Either theresident-student or the nonresident-student fee will be assessed, as applicable,on the basis of the evidence filed in the Office of Admissions and Records. In all cases where evidence establishes that the students legal residence isnot in the state of Illinois, the nonresident fee will be assessed unless he is

specifically exempted. A student who takes exception to the ruling that thenonresident fee is payable will pay that fee, but he may file a claim, in writing,for a refund of the portion thereof in excess of the resident fee. Such a claimmust be filed within thirty days of the date that instruction begins for theacademic period for which the fee is payable. If the nonresident fee was notassessed on or prior to that date, the claim for refund may be filed withinthirty days after the nonresident fee was assessed and the student was givennotice of such assessment. If such claim for refund is not filed within thethirty-day period, the student loses all rights to a refund of any portion of thefee assessed for that academic period. Requests for change-in-residence classification are made at the RecordsCounter of the Office of Admissions and Records, where necessary forms willbe provided.
