In the midst of the vineyard was a deepwell, in which, far, far down, one saw ones reflection. It lookedso cool and inviting that one almost felt inclined to plunge in, and,like Narcissus, falling in love with ones reflection, disappear for ever,and begin existence afresh in some * cool grot and mossy cellunder those sleeping waters. We thought better of it, and remainedabove ground. It was quite charming enough to tempt one to do so.
