It detained him inChickamauga valley at least two days longer thanthere would otherwise have been any need for, andit also allowed time for Bragg to receive a heavyreinforcement from Virginia. GeneralJames Long-street — a host in himself — was de-tached from Lees army, with the two fine divisionsof Hood and McLaws, and sent in all possiblehaste to reinforce General Bragg.
