Wedressed it with lint, pressed out from a styptic,and intended to have permitted that dressing tohave remained on for a day or two: but we weresoon sent for on account of an alarming returnof the hesemorrhage; which had been so con-siderable as to produce a swoon. Castration appeared to us to be the only re-medy; and it was immediately performed. CASE XXXII. From these circumstances,I concluded the swelling to be caused by blood,shed into the tunica communis, from a branch ofa varicose spermatic vein.
