LAMBETH PALACE. 211 Dr. Ducarel, under pretence of abhorring idols, made no scrupleof committing sacrilege, a There is no account or appearance of interments, except thatof Archbishop Parker before mentioned. He died in 1575,aged seventy-two, and desired by his will to lie here. Accord-ingly, at his death, his bowels were put into an urn (a pitcherone writef terms it), and deposited in the dukes chapel inLambeth church. His body, by his request, was buried at theupper end of this chapel, against the communion-table on thesouth side, under a monument of his own erecting, and placedby his direction against that part of the chapel where he used topray, with a Latin inscription composed by his old friend Dr.Walter Haddon, as follows : Sobrius et prudens, studiis excultus et usu,Integer,, et verae religionis amans,Matthaeus vixit Parkerus, foverat ilium Aula virum juvenem, fovit et aula senem.Ordine res gessit
