Anatomy: Briefly, the penile organ is composed of a massof erectile tissue, in form of three cylindrical compartments,known as corpora cavernosa (which occupy the upper surface)and corpus spongiosum (containing the urethra), the lowersurface, occupying the central groove formed by the corporacavernosa, expanding over the ends to form the glans penis,which is firmly secured in position by means of connective-tissue fibres.
