She was edu-cated in Charleston, at a seminary kept by thedaughters of Doctor Ramsay, the historian of theRevolution. In 1830 she was married to Mr.JoHJs: C. Di^^NiES, of Saint Louis, and has sinceresided in that city. Mrs. Hale, in her LadiesWreath, states that she became engaged in aliterary correspondence with Mr. Dinijies morethan four years before their union, and that they never met until one week before the solemnizationof their marriage. The contract was made longbefore, solely from sympathy and congeniality ofmind and taste; and that in their estimate of eachother they were not disappointed, may be inferredfrom the tone of her songs; for the domestic hap-piness that these portray can exist only where bothare happy.
