The feudal lord of Flanders, also a perpetual visitor at the Frenchcourt, not daring to live among his dissatisfied subjects, entered heartily intoPhilips little pleasantry. He lined the Flemish coasts with ships of war,privateers, not to call them pirates, which seized every passing trading ship,and confiscated its goods for their lords benefit.
