| Описание |
English: The U.S. Navy heavy cruisers USS Bremerton (CA-130), foreground, and USS Los Angeles (CA-135) are towed from the (then) largest drydock in the United States, at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard, while being prepared for inactivation and addition to the Pacific Reserve Fleet, 13 February 1948. Constructed during the Second World War, the 1100-foot (335.5m) drydock was capable of handling the (then) largest ships afloat. Besides handling these two cruisers at one time, the huge dock had accomodated four attack transports in one operation. The (then) World's largest crane is visible at right. Note many other laid-up ships in the area. Among them, at right, are the attack transports USS Rockwall (APA-230) and USS Bottineau (APA-235). the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) is visible on the far right. |
