Nestor Daniel Pereyra nacio en Berazategui, Argentina, el 3 de octubre de 1966. Egresado del Profesorado en Letras de la Facultad de Hwnanidades de la UNLP, ~erce la docencia en el nivel secundario desde hace casi dos décadas. Siendo alumno aún, el Dr. Pedro Luis Barcia le encomendó la revisión del periódico El Nacional de Buenos Aires, con la finalidad de confeccionar un índice que contuviera referencias de cierta relevancia para el estudio de nuestras letras. El pedido inicial ha quedado, por ahora, trunco, a expensas del descubri­miento de una obra ignota y, hasta hoy inédita, de Estanislao del Campo, curioso cronista de una gira emprendida por el entonces gobernador Valentin Alsina. Como contrapunto y en fluido diálogo con el trabajo del gauchesco, da a conocer, en este libro, las reflexiones hechas por su amigo Héctor Varela, corresponsal de La Tribuna, en otro texto inédito titulado Viaje de Su Excelencia. Estas obras han permanecido hasta hoy ocultas en los repositorios de la Biblioteca Dardo Rocha de la ciudad de La Plata; ambas, debidamente anotadas y contextua­das a través de un extenso estudio prelimi­nar, están precedidas por una reconstruc­ción de la historia del diario que albergara a la primera de ellas, El Nacional de Buenos Aires. Sus propósitos, sus objetivos fundacio­nales, sus manifestaciones estéticas, sus redactores desfilan a través de estas páginas, consecuencia de una fatigosa, pero reconfortante investigación, que no agota su materia en esta obra, sino que abre nuevas puertas a futuros descubrimientos que, seguramente, servirán para enriquecer nuestro acervo cultural. Daniel Nestor Pereyra was born in Berazategui, Argentina, October 3, 1966. Graduated from the Faculty of Arts Faculty of the UNLP Hwnanidades ~ ERCE teaching at the secondary level for almost two decades. Even as a student, Dr. Pedro Luis Barcia entrusted the revision of the newspaper El Nacional of Buenos Aires, in order to make an index containing references of some relevance for the study of our literature. The initial order has been, for now, truncated at the expense of the discovery of an unknown work, and until now unpublished, Estanislao del Campo, curious chronicler of a tour undertaken by the then Governor Valentin Alsina. As a counterpoint and fluid dialogue with the work of the gaucho, reveals in this book, the comments made ​​by his friend Hector Varela, correspondent for La Tribune, in another unpublished text entitled Journey of His Excellency. These works have so far remained hidden in the repositories of the Library Dardo Rocha of the city of La Plata, both duly noted and contextualized through an extensive preliminary study, preceded by a reconstruction of the history of the newspaper to house the first, El Nacional of Buenos Aires.
