LOOKING DOWN YELLOWSTONE RIVER NEAR MINERS STATION ON PARK LINE I in mil i 11111 ■■■ mil B BETWEEN Livingston, Montana, on the Northern Pacific main line, and Gardiner, at the northern and original entrance to the Park, the NorthernPacific Park line follows the upper Yellowstone River. The stream is a more or less turbulent one, the water clear and fresh from its sourcesamong the mountains, and the scenic features are of a high order. The Gate of the Mountains forms the entrance to Paradise Valley, embrac-ing glacial slopes and moraines, and encircled by cloud-capped, snow-peaked mountains, subdivisions of the Rockies. Then follow Yankee JimCanyon, narrow and rocky, Electric Peak and Sepulcher Mountain. Gardiner, fifty-four miles from Livingston, is at the head of Yankee JimCanyon. This ride, with open observation cars for convenient sightseeing, forms a peculiarly fitting approach to the most marvelous locality on earth.yellowstonenatio254nort
