Описание PLUMBBOB - 1957 - NEVADA TEST SITE -- One of nine shelters, sponsored by the West German Government, to be tested by nuclear detonation in late August. The shelter shown above is about 40 percent complete, being ready for concrete pour over the formwork after installation of reinforcing steel. The main room with a capacity of 25 people is separated from the decontamination chamber (left) by an air-tight door. At the left foreground is the location for a stairwell and main blast door. The shelter over-all is nine feet, 10 inches wide, 21 feet long, and seven feet, six and one-half inches high. Its walls and roof are two feet thick, and it is covered with four feet of earth. The ventilation stack and an emergency exit are in the background. The West German shelter program is co-sponsored by the Federal Civil Defense Administration, with Ammann & Whitney Consulting Engineers, of New York City, serving as agent and technical consultant.
