Botero is a surname of italian origin, more specifically, of the Cuneo province in northwest Italy. In the present time, most people bearing this surname live in Colombia, a spanish-speaking country. Botero comes from the italian "botte", which is barrel. Bote in Spanish means boat, but this word has no relation to the surname's origin.
