English: District National Bank of Washington branch office located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
District National Bank was organized in 1909 by Colonel Robert Newton Harper, co-founder of the American National Bank of Washington and senior member of the banking firm Harper & Co. In 1911, the ten-story District National Bank Building was constructed at 1406 G Street, NW, (demolished; site now occupied by Metropolitan Square) which served as the company's headquarters. As a result of the 1933 banking crisis, District National Bank failed and became one of eight banks merged and reorganized as Hamilton National Bank.
