Strongylium (лат.) — род жуков-чернотелок из подсемейства Stenochiinae (Tenebrionidae). Известно более 700 видов. Встречаются всесветно.

Описание[править | править код]

Жуки среднего размера, с тёмной или яркой окраской тела. Тем самым они отличаются от типичных чернотелок более яркой окраской, сходной со златками, а иногда выделяются и необычной формой тела, сходной с мохнатками (Lagriinae). Длина тела составляет около 1 см[2]. Предпочитают древесные биотопы, характерен ночной образ жизни. По характеру повреждений несколько видов Strongylium пробуравливают древесину живых деревьев и, как правило, живут в относительно твердой древесине[3].

Распространение[править | править код]

Встречаются в большинстве регионов мира: Центральная и Южная Америка (более 300 видов), Восточная и Юго-Восточная Азия, Африка, Австралия и Новая Гвинея. В Палеарктике около 100 видов[4]. В Китае 94 вида[5]. Отдельные виды обнаружены на юге Палеарктики: Босния и Герцеговина (2 вида), Греция (1), Турция (1), Иран (1)[6].

Классификация[править | править код]

Крупнейший род чернотелок. Описано более 700 видов, из них около 300 в Неотропике[7][8]. По другим данным число видов вдвое больше (более чем 1400)[5]. Включён в состав трибы Stenochiini (=Strongyliini) из подсемейства Stenochiinae[2][9]. Ревизия рода не проводилась более ста лет и отличия Strongylium от близких родов (например, Otocerus Mäklin, 1867, Pseudotocerus Champion, 1888, Epiplecta Mäklin, 1867, Flabellostrongylium Pic, 1938) основаны, главным образом, на морфологии усиков[10].
