Hello.

Since the 12. August, I have read Bengt Danielsson's book "Le dernier rendez-vous..." and, in this book, where the chronology is very strictly indicated, it appears that the date of Eric de Bisschop's death is on the 30/08/1958. --AUBRIANT 18:51, 6 октября 2009 (UTC)[ответить]

Ну не знаю, конечно Алэн мог забыть или перепутать, но т.к. эта книга основной источник, я изменю дату.

Looking at your text, I find this assertion :

Но вкоре после того как правительство Виши окнчательно потеряло престиж, Эрик де Бишоп был арестован как японский шпион и пробыл в тюрьме до конца войны.

Could you give the source which gave you this information ? From my sources (some of them archivistic), it appears that he was revoked from his function of consular agent on the 13/12/1941 and that he was arrested in may 1942, but maintained in jail during only 3 days (as explained in a letter (6/10/1942) from his wife Constance de Bisschop to the under-Secretary of State Sumner Welles). I have published this document and some others in the following site : Eric de Bisschop agent consulaire à Honolulu (the letter, in English, is the document number 67 in the CORPUS. Bengt Danielsson also tells about a short stay in jail.

Constance and Papaleaiaina are the same person[править код]

Hello ! Zdravstvuite ! There is a quite important mistake in your page : it is supposed that Eric de B. was twice married with a Hawaian woman ! In fact, he married first with a French woman (whose name is not known by me) around 1919, and had a daughter in 1923 (this daughter, name unknown, is Franck Goddio's mother, if Franck Goddio happens to be known in Russia), and divorced in 1927 ; when he was in Honolulu, from october 1935 to march 1937 (that's more than one year), he met "Papaleaiaina" (as he always writes), which is the alias of Constance Constable ; they married in 1938 (she had come to France), as is indicated in the Hawaian site about "Constance de Bisschop". They left France (with destination French Polynesia) with the "Kaimiloa Wakea" in june 1940 (the war was then already begun).

Concerning Petain, it must be said that Eric de Bisschop knew him since long, it is even possible that Petain was his godfather (no evidence, but it is often written). In Honolulu, Eric, as a "consular agent" was not to earn any salary, but he got 50 $ a month as an exceptional indemnity by decision of Petain.

Cordially.

Au revoir ! Do svidania !

I have made the correction about the first wife and introduced some details. about the years 1920-1927. To be continued... Anyway, have a watch about my Russian.

ERIC DE BISSCHOP AND PETAIN[править код]

A point to be considered in the Honolulu Consulate nomination is that Eric de Bisschop knew Pétain very well by familial acquaintance ; it is said (but I have no evidence of it) that Pétain had been Eric's godfather, and also the witness at the 1938 marriage ; but there is evidence about the following points : that Eric had spent holidays with Pétain in 1919 or 1920 ; that he and his wife spent some days in Pétain's property on the French Riviera in 1938 or 1939 ; that after the wreckage in Canarias he enjoyed financial help from Petain (documents (in French or in English) available in the above quoted work of mine [1]). Eric de Bisschop was clearly a petainist and an anti-gaullist, but largely with a personal background, rather than a political one.
