Это очень великий математик! Почитайте к примеру статью та Англ Вики! Nikkita 14:05, 15 января 2010 (UTC)[ответить]

Sorry for commenting in English, but my Apple laptop does not have a Russian keyboard capability. I created an article about Grigorchuk at en-wiki about 1.5 years ago and I saw today that a link to the ru-wiki article about him was added there. When I followed that link, I was very surprised to see that the article about him is being considered for deletion (even speedy deletion) here. There is no question in my mind that Grigorchuk is notable, both by the standards of en-wiki and by the standards of ru-wiki. While I am not very well familiar with the latter, after looking up Википедия:Критерии значимости персоналий, section "Деятели науки и образования", I see there formal criterion 6 which reads:"Учёные, чьим именем названы сделанные ими открытия или изобретения, если эти открытия и изобретения систематически упоминаются в специальной литературе с этим названием." Grigorchuk certainly satisfies this criterion since Grigorchuk group is named after him. The group, with this name, is extensively studied in geometric group theory. A GoogleBooks search for "Grigorchuk group" gives 75 hits[1], the very first of which is a chapter about the Grigorchuk group in an important book of Pierre de la Harpe[2]. Similarly, a GoogleScholar search for "Grigorchuk group" gives 207 hits[3], including a significant number of articles where the term "Grigorchuk group" appears in the title of the article (and not just in its text). There are also a number of additional indicators of notability here. Grigorchuk holds the rank of "Distinguished Professor" (basically an equivalent of a named chair position) at Texas A&M University. He is an Editor-in-Chief of one journal and a member of editorial boards of 5 more journals. He gave an invited talk at the 1990 Международный конгресс математиков in Kyoto, which is also a significant sign of prestige. In 2003 there was a big conference in Gaeta, Italy dedicated to Grigorchuk's 50th birthday. Any kind of a birthday conference is already a significant sign of distinction; a 50th birthday conference is even more unusual since typically at that age most mathematicians are not yet sufficiently famous to merit a birthday conference. Two journals (International Journal of Algebra and Computation and Algebra and Discrete Mathematics) had special issues dedicated to Grigorchuk's 50th birthday. I would think that this is already quite enough for demonstrating his notability per Википедия:Критерии значимости персоналий. Nsk92 15:45, 15 января 2010 (UTC)[ответить]
